It is very sturdy and of all metal construction. One fine point should be mentioned. When you tighten down the set screw on an eyepiece with most such adapters you have a chance of marring the finish of the eyepiece barrel. As shown in the photo, there is an brass retaining ring on our adapter that is tightened by the set screw. Instead of your eyepiece being held by one set screw causing nicks, it is held around a large portion of its diameter by the softer brass ring. Details of UHC Nebula filter This Ultra High Contrast (UHC) filter is great for giving the maximum enhancement of nebula. It also acts as a light pollution filter to remove most artificial light. It blocks all high and low pressure mercury and sodium vapor lamp light, neon lights and airglow. It is excellent for both visual and photographic applications. For visual observations, this filter is great under dark or somewhat light-polluted skies. It greatly enhances nebulae and comets relative to the background light. While it is especially good for nebula, by darkening the background of space, this nebula filter provides a better view of all deep-sky objects. Photographically, a good nebula enables deep space photos of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies to be taken even where you have light polluted skies. It is valuable even at good dark-sky sites because it blocks the natural airglow spectral line at 558 nm. Because of this, it provides higher contrast deep sky photographs. Note that the critical astronomical lines for hydrogen beta, oxygen three, and cyanogen are transmitted at close to 100%. The unwanted light from mercury vapor, high and low pressure sodium, and airglow are completely removed. Typical transmissions for these filters are: 486 nm Hydrogen-Beta 95% 496 nm Oxygen III 94% 501 nm Oxygen III 95% 656 nm Hydrogen-Alpha NA* *Not Applicable: UHC filters are not often used for Hydrogen-Alpha because only a portion is transmitted. They do transmit essentially all of the infra-red. Details of Planetary filter This planetary filter looks at first glance to be a medium yellow filter. It is, however, a multilayer filter like the nebula filter to transmit specific wavelengths important for planetary observations. Looking at the filter from an angle, it looks like a mirror reflecting blue light. The contrast of subtle details on Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars are enhanced with this filter. Because the way the multilayers in this filter are made, the density of the filter is small enough for even small telescopes. The tube at the bottom of this filter wheel requires about 1-1/8" (28.6 mm) additional inward focus travel. This . should be no problem with any standard refractor, reflector, or SCT. This photo adapter slides into the 1-1/4" eyepiece holders.
