Dual Alt-Azimuth and Equatorial Mounting with GPS

The SmartStar® A Series GOTO Mountings run as either Alt-Azimuth or Equatorial. On this mounting, a 32 channel GPS system is standard. The controller database contains 80,000 objects plus has room for 256 user defined objects. The controller also has the largest LCD screen on the market. It has 8 rows of data up to 21 columns long and backlit LED buttons.

The SmartStar® A Series Mounting has a 9-speed control (1X, 2X, 8X, 16X, 64X, 128X, 256X, 512X, and a Max slew) in all directions. The mounting runs using either 8 AA batteries or the AC adapter which is included as the standard equipment. Batteries are not included. In addition, a 12VDC Car lighter adapter is available as an option.

This mounting has a payload of 11 pounds and a 1" Stainless Steel tripod. It will handle a large variety of small telescopes. The telescopes are easily mounting through the industry standard dove-tail mounting bracket. An optional 1.5kg counter weight is recommended in the equatorial mode.

In addition to the hand controller, you may control the telescope with your computer using any ASCOM compatible software. The USB cable between the telescope and the computer is available as an option as is The Guide 8 software for computer control.

The SmartStar® A Series is highly portable so you may easily take it with you into the field. This mounting currently is available as either just the mounting or with any of three different telescopes.
