Sturdy EQ-5 Equatorial Mounting and Kit for Existing EQ-5 Mountings

The SmartStar® PR Series GOTO Mountings run Equatorial and are available as complete mountings or as kits to adapt your existing EQ-5 type mounting. This kit works with EQ-5, CG5, GPD, and LX75 mountings.

The controller database contains 130,000 objects plus has room for 256 user defined objects. The controller also has the largest LCD screen on the market. It has 8 rows of data up to 21 columns long and backlit LED buttons. On this mounting, a 32 channel GPS system is a low cost option.

The SmartStar® PR Series Mounting has a 9-speed control (1X, 2X, 8X, 16X, 64X, 128X, 256X, 512X, and a Max slew) in all directions. The mounting runs using either 8 AA batteries or the AC adapter which is included as the standard equipment. Batteries are not included. In addition, a 12VDC Car lighter adapter is available as an option.

This mounting has a payload of 35 pounds and a 2" Stainless Steel tripod. It will handle a large variety of small and medium telescopes. The telescopes are easily mounting through the industry standard dove-tail mounting bracket. The polar axis has a polar finder for accurate alignment.

In addition to the hand controller, you may control the telescope with your computer using any ASCOM compatible software. The USB cable between the telescope and the computer is available as an option as is The Guide 8 software for computer control.

The SmartStar® PR Series is a little heavy but may easily take it with you into the field. This mounting currently is available as either the complete EQ-5 GOTO mounting or as a kit for your existing EQ-5 type mounting.
